ブッシュにはショックだった、７６名の反対

里美さん、

私たちは元気です。でも、米議会がイラク侵攻を支持したことで大変困ったことになっています。

でも、わたしは昨日、個人的な集まりでバーバラ・リー議員に会ったのですが、彼女は、大統領は76人もの人が反対投票をしたのでショックを受けていると教えてくれました。去年、たった一人の反対だったのに比べると76倍になったのだから、進歩だと言いました。彼女は、手紙を書いたり、ファックスや電子メールを送ったり、電話したり、また街頭デモで反対の意思表示をすることはとても重要だと言っています。このことを日本でも伝えてください。バーバラ議員はもし、市民の反対が相当強くなければ、来年1月にはイラク攻撃が開始されると思うと語っていました。

Hi Satomi - We are fine here and very annoyed at the vote in our Congress to support the invasion of Iraq.

However I met with Congresswoman Barbara Lee yesterday at a private party and she told us that 76 people in Congress voted "NO" which shocked the president. She said that is 76 times more people than her single vote　one year ago, so we are making progress. She said it is extremely important for us to write letters, Send FAXs, emails, phone calls - and to DEMONSTRATE in the streets to show our opposition. You can pass this around Japan too. She expects the action in Iraq to begin in January if we do not oppose it very strongly.
